PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger wherein change of size can be easily and inexpensively carried out, and heat exchange performance can be easily improved. SOLUTION: A gas cooler 1 is provided with a pair of header tanks 2 and 3 arranged with an interval in between, and a plurality of heat exchange pipes 4 arranged in parallel states between both header tanks 2 and 3, with both ends respectively connected to both header tanks 2 and 3. Each header tank 2 and 3 is formed by vertically laminating and mutually joining a plurality of tank forming members 7. A vertically extending fluid passing hole 8 is penetratingly formed in each tank forming member 7. Adjacent tank forming members 7 are joined via joining members 14A and 14B. A pipe insertion hole 11 communicated with the fluid passing hole 8 is formed in each tank forming member 7, the heat exchange pipe 4 is inserted in the pipe insertion hole 11 of the tank forming member 7, and it is joined to the tank forming member 7 via a heat exchange pipe joining member 26.
