PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air spring to which turning-up preventing countermeasures for a diaphragm are given. SOLUTION: The air spring comprises a piston 2 to be connected to an axle, an upper face plate 3 to be connected to a vehicle body on the upper side thereof, and the cylindrical diaphragm 4 arranged between the piston 2 and the upper face plate 3. The diaphragm 4 formed in a tapered shape is anchored at one end to the upper face plate 3, folded at its lower side inward and anchored at the other end onto the inward side of the upper end face of the piston through an outer periphery side wall 2a of the piston. Besides, a pressure plate 18 is provided for holding the diaphragm 4 between a shoulder portion of the piston 2 and itself. In the case that sudden elongating stroke occurs in the air spring when assembled on the vehicle body and the axle, the pressure plate 18 restricts the turning-up of the diaphragm, as possibly caused at the shoulder portion of the piston as a starting point.
