PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a 2,4,5-trialkoxybenzoic acid and a benzoic acid ester each in high yield. SOLUTION: A 2,4,5-trialkoxybenzoic acid ester expressed by formula (2) (R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R are each independently an alkyl) is produced by reacting a compound expressed by formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently an alkyl) with carbon dioxide in the presence of a base to introduce a carboxyl group and alkylating phenolic hydroxyl group.
