PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface smoothing device using an electron beam, which accurately and efficiently improves surface roughness of the surface of a metal mold by applying surface treatment, which uses a high-density electron beam, to a fine part of a machined face on the surface of the metal mold. SOLUTION: An electron beam irradiation system and a stage are controlled by a computer 15 based on CAD data 16 so that a high-density fine electron beam 2 is focused on the surface of a metal mold 6, and fine parts of the surface of the metal mold are successively melted and solidified. Thereby, the surface of a desired area of the metal mold, to which only mechanical machining or electric discharge machining is applied and whose surface roughness is large, is improved into a glossy surface.
