PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a lid body to surely open only when garbage is charged. SOLUTION: A garbage disposer comprises a disposer main body 10 having a treatment tank 20 for treating the garbage in the inside, and disposed so as to leave a space S between it and a floor face F, the lid body 54 openably and closably attached to the disposer main body 10, energized in the opening direction by an energizing means (a hinge spring 55), and closing the charging port 14a of the treatment tank 20, a lock member 57 for locking the lid body 54 to the disposer main body 10 so as to make the lid body 54 unopenable, a detection means (a distance measuring sensor 46) having a preset detectable range L, disposed so that the floor face F is located outside the detectable range L, and detecting the presence of an object coming between it and the floor face F, and a lid body opening means (a solenoid 62) for releasing the lock by the lock member 57 to open the lid body 54 when detecting the coming object by the detection means.
