<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid car which reduces a load on an electric storage device by enhancing the responding properties of the power output from an internal combustion engine and improves the energy efficiency of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When a running power Pv* is larger than value 0, a larger one of a required number of revolutions Nereq that is the number of revolutions in an operation point that allows a highly efficient output of power requirement Pe* and a lower limit number of revolutions Nemin that is the number of revolutions in an operation point where a vehicle runs at a constant speed V is set as a targeted engine revolutions Ne* (S160). When a running power Pv* is value 0, fuel cut is carried out for the engine and at the same time the lower limit number of revolutions Nemin is set as a targeted number of revolutions of the engine Ne* (S190). The engine revolves at the number of revolutions more than the lower limit number of revolutions Nemin so that it can rapidly respond to an increase in power.
