<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of preventing the upsizing of a reflector or a sub reflection mirror, and a projector. <P>SOLUTION: The reflector 12 is arranged so that its 1st focus F1 may be aligned with the edge of the end 111B11 of either electrode 111B1 of a light source lamp 11. The outer circumference of the reflection surface 121 of the reflector 12 and the outer circumference of the reflection surface 131 of the sub reflection mirror 13 are positioned on a plane M passing the edge of the end 111B11 of the electrode 111B1 and orthogonal to the optical axis X of the light source lamp 11.
