PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable electronic equipment comprising a lock means preventing missing of a cover and enabling anyone to close the cover in a single operation. SOLUTION: This bar code reader 1 comprises a battery cover 2 at a battery chamber 11 provided to a casing 10 and a lock mechanism 3, which is openably and lockably fixed. The lock mechanism 3 has a lock member 31 rotatably placed to the battery chamber 11, a spring member 32 applying a closing force to the lock member 31 in the direction for locking the battery cover 2, and a lock piece 22 placed on the battery cover 2 for locking the lock member 31 by pushing the battery cover 2 in the direction for closing and by moving the lock member 31 backward for pushing it in.
