PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing method to develop heat developable photosensitive materials which can obtain high-quality images even when storing the images by stabilizing the processes in heat developing. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the heat developing methods to develop a heat developable photosensitive material having an image forming layer containing at least photosensitive silver halide, non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a silver ion reducing agent and a binder on one surface of the support in a heat developing unit. The heat developing method of this invention has a heat developing unit having a heating means made up by arranging flat or curved heater plates and makes the temperature higher on the heater plate first touching the photosensitive material than on the other plates when heat developing.
