PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing whether a diabetic patient is getting cardiovascular complication or the patient has a risk of getting a cardiovascular complication. SOLUTION: According to this method, (a) the level of at least one angiogenesis marker or its variant in a sample derived from the patient is measured desirably in vitro, and (b) the measured level is compared with a known level related to the heart/blood vessel complication or its risk, thereby diagnosing the complication or the risk of developing complication. Further, measurement of combined markers is provided, the markers including arterialization markers, heart hormones, sodium diuretic peptides, and markers related to platelet activation. Desirable markers include P1GF, VEGF, cerebral sodium diuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP, in particular), and sCD4OL. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
