PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that installation work of a spacer has taken very much time and effort conventionally since it was necessary to install many spacers on a panel accurately and that there tended to have difference in appearance of the image between the portion where the spacer exists and the portion where it does not exist. SOLUTION: The field emission type display device uses a display panel which comprises a cathode panel 1, an anode panel 2 arranged opposed to the cathode panel 1, and a spacer 21 interposed between these cathode panel 1 and the anode panel 2. The spacer 21 is constructed of a sheet laminate in which an insulating sheet part 22 and a conductive sheet part 23 are alternately laminated in thickness direction of the panel.
