PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus that can efficiently deter a fixing member from rising in temperature at both its width-directional ends with relatively simple constitution even when a narrow recording medium is continuously fixed. SOLUTION: The fixing member is equipped with a fixing member which heats and fixes a toner image on a recording medium, a coil part which is extended along the width direction to face the fixing member, and a core part 28 which is configured to vary ranges L1 to L2 of opposition to the coil part. The opposition ranges L1 to L2 of the core part 28 are varied to adjust a width-directional heating range of the fixing member heated by electromagnetic induction of the coil part.
