PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic transmitting and receiving apparatus which shortens a scanning time by transmitting two or more ultrasonic beams in two or more directions simultaneously and improves the separation between those ultrasonic beams. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic transmitting and receiving apparatus has a probe for an ultrasonic wave 1 which includes two or more ultrasonic transducers 10, driving signal generating means 22 and 31 which generate two or more driving signals for the multidirectional and simultaneous transmission of the two or more ultrasonic beams corresponding to two or more types of spectrum diffusion signals which are acquired by adding two or more frequency elements discretely selected from two or more frequency elements having mutually different central frequencies in a prescribed ratio, and receiving side signal processing means 23-37AB which execute two or more types of phase matching to form two or more reception focal points corresponding to the number of the transmitted ultrasonic beams on the basis of the two or more detection signals outputted from the two or more transducers.
