The seat (1) is assembled of a seat area (2), a backrest (4), and four lateral parts (16, 17), all attached to a frame (11) and fitted with a seat belt unit (5). A rectangular metal element (9) is joined to one of the lateral frame parts. The element (9) is provided with a serrated area (7) in order to engage with a bar (25) transversally guided across the backrest (4). The unit (7, 9, 25) facilitates the backrest (4) to follow the movement of the body of the child in case of a tightening of the seatbelt (5, 23).
