PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispenser and a dispensing method capable of detecting/correcting easily and accurately a positional shift of a nozzle to ensure a highly precise dispensing operation. SOLUTION: The nozzle 10 constituted detachably is conveyed in to a dispensing position to dispense a specimen or the like in the dispensing position. A nozzle detecting means 16 for detecting a tip portion of the nozzle 10 is provided in a proper portion of a work area 100 conveyed in with the nozzle 10. The positional shift of the nozzle 10 is detected based on a detection signal of the nozzle detecting means 16, and the positional shift is corrected to conduct conveyance. A reference distance from a reference point is detected by the detection signal with respect to a reference nozzle, and a conveyed distance up to the dispensing position for the each conveyed nozzle is set based on the reference distance.
