PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural analog of vitamin D having selective activity for cell proliferation and cell differentiation without showing the characteristics of hypercalciuria. SOLUTION: Two new organic compounds, analogs of vitamin D such as 3-hydroxymethyl-5-ä2-[3-(5-hydroxy-5-methylhexyl)-phenyl]vinyl}phenol and 3-[3-(5-hydroxy-1, 5-dimethylhexyl)phenoxymethyl]-5-hydroxymethylphenol are provided.
