PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit that protects a circuit by detecting an abnormality before a temperature protection circuit operates, when an abnormality such as a short circuit occurs at a load. SOLUTION: The protection circuit comprises: a first impedance converter to which a first voltage is applied, and which applies a voltage based on the first voltage to one end of the load; a second impedance converter to which a second voltage is applied and which applies a voltage based on the second voltage to the other end of the load; and a discrimination circuit that discriminates whether a difference between voltages of the one end of the load and the other end of the load is smaller than a prescribed value or not, and when the difference is determined to be smaller than the prescribed value, outputs a discrimination signal for circuit protection.
