PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial-ply tire having a carcass layer consisting of steel cords, capable of improving both the durability and the comfortableness through improvement of the steel cords themselves. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial-ply tire has carcass layer 4 consisting of steel cords, embodied in an m×n complex twined cord structure in which the element wire diameters are between 0.13-0.22 mm (where m=2-7 and n=2-7), wherein the twining directions of the first twist and the final twist are made the same, and the elongation Em of the steel cords at 30 N load is made 0.3-1.5 %.
