The pneumatic drive has a channel system (25) inside the piston opening into at least one ring groove (33) which opens to the outer circumference of the drive piston (6) and is set coaxially between the air bearing section (23) and a piston end section (32) which is set axially in front of the relevant biasing chamber (8a,8b) whereby the compressed air from the biased chamber can flow past on the outside. At least one ring groove communicating with the channel system is provided axially either side of the air bearing section and lies between the air bearing section and the associated piston end section.
