<p>A cutting tool, wherein a hard coating layer harder than a base body is put on the surface of the base body formed of a hard sintered body. Polishing is applied to a cutting edge area ranging from a face side to a flank side through a cross ridge on the surface of the hard coating layer so that cracking is present in a polished surface on the hard coating layer and the areas thereof near the cracking are gradually deepened toward the cracking. Thus, the wear resistance and the chipping resistance of the cutting edge of the cutting tool can be increased.</p> |
