<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera to which a plurality of recording media can be loaded that automatically and properly distributes images to recording destinations depending on kinds or applications of the images. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes: an imaging section for imaging an object to generate image data; a recording section capable of selecting the recording destination of the image data from a plurality of the recording media; and a distribution section. The recording section records the image data to a recording medium determined by the distribution section. The distribution section determines the recording destination of the image data automatically on the basis of information on the setting of the electronic camera, or the evaluation index of the image data, or information on the state of the object, or medium information on the state or the attribute of the recording medium and a recording image size.
