<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a black ink composition that does not require addition of a large amount of a color correction dye or another color correction dye, develops prints of excellent black tone and high density, has excellent weather resistance, heat resistance, water resistance (no bleeding), excellent hue and liquid stability and comprises a water-soluble short-wave dye S and a water-soluble long-wave dye L and an ink set containing the same and to provide an inkjet recording method using them. <P>SOLUTION: In the black ink composition comprising water, a water-miscible organic solvent and a colorant, the black ink composition comprises C. I. Direct Red 84 as the water-soluble short-wave dye S. The ink set contains the black ink composition.
