<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately select a content reflecting user's preference and to present the content to the user. <P>SOLUTION: The content recording and reproducing apparatus detects a face image from a received and recorded program, collates it with face images stored in a face image database beforehand, identifies a person corresponding to the face image and manages the identified information as a character database together with a point reflected with an appearance time of the person in the program.
