PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fading effect calculation apparatus capable of estimating the effect of frequency selective fading with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A square envelope level detector 13 obtains a square envelope level R=I2+Q2 of over-sampled I and Q signals, a differential synchronization adder 14 accumulates absolute values of symbol interval differences by each symbol period, a minimum value / maximum value calculation unit 15 obtains a ratio of a maximum value to a minimum value of an accumulated value S to provide an output of the ratio as a fading effect E. A selection switching control means 41 switches a switch means 42, a symbol point is identified when no fading effect exists and a delay detector 39 carries out delay detection, or uses a waveform equalizer 37 to carry out waveform equalization when fading exists and thereafter the delay detector 39 carries out delay detection.
