PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a solvent of a liquid developer from evaporating and to prevent image density from degrading. SOLUTION: The apparatus is arranged with a recovery side door 511 and a feed side door 512 on both sides of a revolving shaft of a developing roller 413 as a reference inside a developing means 4. The two doors 451 and 452 have fulcrum shafts at the ends on the opposite to the developing roller 413. The fulcrum shafts are held by internal walls of the developing means 4 and the feed side door 512 opens in the direction where the door does not dip into a liquid developer 402 stored within the developing means 4. The recovery door 511 has a structure to open in the direction where the door dips in the liquid developer 402. The recovery door 511 is so constituted as to be arranged with the liquid developer 402 carried on the surface of the developing roller 413, an agitation electrode 414 stored in the developing means 4 in order to agitate the developer and an agitation power source 214.
