PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a disazo pigment in which a pigment yield is improved, and to provide a disazo pigment which is excellent in tinting strength and clarity and has reduced environmental loads by reducing generation of aromatic amines. SOLUTION: The method for producing a disazo pigment comprises the step of undergoing coupling reaction by feeding, into an acidic buffer solution in a batchwise stirring vessel, a coupler aqueous solution comprising a coupler component selected from an anilide derivative represented by general formula (I): CH<SB>3</SB>COCH<SB>2</SB>CONH-X, aniline, and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; a tetrazo aqueous solution containing a tetrazo component of benzidines, wherein the power required for stirring is 1.0-17.0 kW/m<SP>3</SP>. In general formula (I), X denotes a phenyl group having the same or different one to four substituents selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a methoxy group, an ethyl group, an ethoxy group, a chlorine atom, a carboxylic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, an alkali metal salt, an amino group, an amide group and an acetoacetylamino group.
