PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a uniform nanosize ferrite powder having minute particle sizes with simple equipment. SOLUTION: In a method for producing the ferrite powder, comprising adding an alkali source such as urea to an aqueous solution of metal salts containing constitutive component elements, and reacting the constitutive component elements by heating the resulting solution by irradiating it with microwaves, the irradiation with microwaves is performed after adding a water-soluble solvent, such as ethylene glycol, having a boiling point not lower than 150°C under atmospheric pressure into the aqueous solution of the metal salts. Thereby, it becomes possible to synthesize the ferrite powder under a pressure lower than conventional pressure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
