PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt for recognizing that belt and stairs integrally move by providing a proper mark at a fixed position on the belt corresponding to each stair of an escalator. SOLUTION: The movement of the belt is clarified by providing the mark 1 or a small projection 1 on the belt 2, and at the same time, it is recognized that the stairs 3 and the belt have relatively the same speed. As a result, subjects wherein (1) safety must be secured in the escalator as a traffic tool since the number, the length and speed of the escalator are more and more increased at present when barrier-free is loudly cried, (2) old persons are required to move his both legs to the stairs after stopping once and standing ready to take the escalator since an increase of accidents of old persons is expected from now on, (3) the belt is required to be easily held since old persons think of quickly moving to the stairs to put both the legs on the stairs first and slowly hold the belt in many cases, although it is safe if the belt is held by both hands and weight of both the legs is moved to the stairs to secure safety since considerable acceleration works at the time are eliminated.
