Silver, gold, platinum, and palladium chlorides, and salts thereof in general.-Acid solutions containing precious metals, for instance those containing chlorides of platinum, palladium, gold or silver obtained from ores &c. and containing also base metals such as copper, iron, or nickel, are brought into contact with active carbon, which adsorbs the precious metal compounds. Strongly acid solutions should be first diluted or partially neutralized. The adsorbed compounds may be recovered as by treatment of the carbon with concentrated hydrochloric acid.</p> |
