A water base resin composition for use in paint, ink, adhesive, sealant or primer that exhibits high adherence to polyolefin substrates, excelling in compatibility with various polar resins and that contains no organic solvents. There is provided a water base resin composition produced by dissolving 100 parts by mass of acid-modified polyolefin and 5 to 60 parts by mass of surfactant in 15 to 1900 parts by mass of polymerizable monomer, adding water to the solution in the presence of a basic compound to thereby effect a phase inversion emulsification and polymerizing the polymerizable monomer. Further, there is provided a water base resin composition produced by dissolving 100 parts by mass of acid-modified polyolefin and 5 to 60 parts by mass of surfactant in a first polymerizable monomer, adding water to the solution in the presence of a basic compound to thereby effect a phase inversion emulsification, polymerizing the first polymerizable monomer into a resin composition, adding a second polymerizable monomer to the resin composition and polymerizing the second polymerizable monomer, wherein the first and second polymerizable monomers are used in a total amount of 15 to 1900 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of acid-modified polyolefin. Still further, there are provided, comprising these compositions as an active component, a paint, ink, adhesive, sealant and primer. |
