PUPIL DETECTING DEVICE, AND IRIS CERTIFYING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pupil detecting device which can speedily and precisely detect the position of the pupil.

SOLUTION: This pupil detecting device is equipped with a pupil candidate detecting section 110 which detects the position of a pupil candidate from among eye images, and a luminance difference calculating section 120 which obtains a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value of the image data of an eye image on the circumference of a circle having a specified radius around the central coordinates of the pupil candidate. When the output of the luminance difference calculating section 120 is larger than a specified threshold value, it is judged that the corresponding pupil candidate is not the pupil.
