<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint collating device for collating fingerprints without being affected by external light such as solar light even under such an environment as outdoors where the sunlight is strong. <P>SOLUTION: This fingerprint collation device is provided with a finger placing part 4 on which the finger is placed for reading the fingerprint, a finger detecting part 2 as an optical reader for capturing the fingerprint image appearing at the finger placing part as fingerprint data and a light source 3 for fingerprint detection to be lighted when the finger is placed at the finger placing part.
