<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To the improve accuracy of image quality estimation in a packet loss by a simple composition. <P>SOLUTION: To every image packet sent to a user terminal UT, frame classification (I, P, B) to which the packet belongs and a frame generating rule (parameter of GOP(M, N)) in high efficiency compression coding are embedded. In the user terminal UT, the degree or the rate of quality deterioration within one image frame is estimated by a generation number of a loss packet (in a network, or in the terminal), the duration length of image quality deterioration is estimated by the frame classification or the frame generating rule in high efficiency compression coding to which the loss packet belongs, and the subjective quality of the image decoded in the user terminal UT is estimated based on the degree of the estimated image quality deterioration and the duration length of the image deterioration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
