<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface mounting connector which prevents a fixing terminal from shifting from a regular mounting position of a connector main part when an excessive force is applied from outside before mounting on the substrate, and can surface-mount surely the connector main part place on the substrate on the substrate. <P>SOLUTION: A screen 34 is provided integrated with a side wall 20 corresponding to a fixing terminal 32 that is temporarily fixed at the regular fitting position on the side wall 20. Thereby, even if an excessive force is applied from the outside on the SMT connector 10 during the time after the fixing terminal 32 is temporarily fixed to the above position till the connector main part 14 is mounted on the substrate 12, interference of the fixing terminal 32 with the outside is prevented by the screen 34. As a result, the fixing terminal 32 is not shifted from the above position.
