PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a runner vane operating device for a hydraulic machine capable of materializing oil free operation and improving control precision of a runner vane. SOLUTION: An input shaft 42 arranged on a tip of a generator shaft 33 of a rotary main shaft transmits and boosts power from a motor 2 which is a drive source via a reduction gear 43 and an operating device 41. A multi-stage planetary gear reduction gear 40 is provided in an intermediate shaft 39 between a generator shaft 33 of the rotary main shaft and a water wheel shaft 21, and reduces rotary speed of the input shaft 43. A runner vane final stage operation output shaft 36 is connected to the multi-stage planetary gear reduction gear 40 to open and close the runner vane 4. Consequently, angle of the runner vane 14 attached on a runner boss 38 is changed by relatively rotating an output shaft provided concentrically with the rotary main shaft.
