PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod comprising a lightweight base rod and easy-to-grip reel seat. SOLUTION: The fishing rod has the following construction: An opening is formed on the face opposite to the reel leg-attaching part of the cylindrical reel seat 5. The opening is fitted with a rubber covering element 8 to cover the opening. The reel seat 5 fitted with the covering element 8 is externally engaged and fixed on a predetermined position of the base rod 2 and the inner surface of the covering element 8 and the outer circumferential surface of the base rod 2 are bondedly fixed together.
