The system lifts the front bonnet of a motor vehicle from a closed position to a safety position using a hydraulic actuator. The hydraulic actuator is connected to an existing hydraulic system of a servo steering apparatus. The hydraulic drive of the actuator includes a hydraulic cylinder connected to the high pressure circuit of the servo steering hydraulic system.
