<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an orally administrable composition having antiparasitotic activity for fish that undergoes culture in marine crawl and cannot be subjected to treatment by chemical dipping, and to provide a method for preventing/treating parasitoses. <P>SOLUTION: The orally administrable composition for preventing/treating parasitoses of fish contains matrine found in a crushed product, extract, or the like, of Sophora radix or Sophora subprostrata, wherein the extract is preferably water and/or alcohol extract. This composition is effectively usable on marine fish including sea bream, flatfish and balloonfish, being effective for parasitoses attributable to platyhelminth such as Cryptocaryon irritans and protozoan such as neobenedenia. The method for preventing/treating parasitoses of fish comprises orally administering the fish with 1-50 mg/day per kg fish body weight of the matrine-containing composition on a matrine basis, 10-2,000 mg/day per kg fish body weight of the composition on a Sophora radix bulkbasis, or 10-2,000 mg/day per kg fish body weight of the composition on a Sophora subprostrata bulk basis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
