<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose acylate film which excels in retardation exhibiting properties and undergoes less change in retardation values by environmental humidity, a polarizing plate obtained by using the film, and a liquid crystal display which undergoes less change in viewing angle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose acylate is obtained by substituting ≥2C acyl group for shydroxyl groups of glucose units constituting a cellulose by, wherein when a substitution degree of 2-position hydroxyl groups of the glucose units by acyl groups is represented by DS2. a substitution degree of 3-position hydroxyl groups by DS3 and a substitution degree of 6-position hydroxyl groups by DS6, expression (I) : 2.0≤DS2+DS3+DS6≤3.0 and expression (II): DS6/(DS2+DS3+DS6)≥0.315 are satisfied. A frontal retardation value Re<SB>(λ)</SB>at a wavelength λ nm and a retardation value of film thickness direction Rth<SB>(λ)</SB>at a wavelength λ nm satisfy expression (III): 45≤Re<SB>(630)</SB>≤200 and expression (IV): 70≤Rth<SB>(630)</SB>≤350. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
