<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate improved so as to prevent unevenness from occurring even under high humidity while keeping a high optical compensation function, and also to provide a liquid crystal display device using the polarizing plate and excellent in visibility angle performance. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate is constituted by sticking a protection film at least to either side of a polarizer. When a relaxation elastic modulus is approximated by an expression (I): E(t)=aLn(t)+b, the coefficient aA of the polarizing plate, that is, a coefficient (a) in expression (I) of the relaxation elastic modulus in an absorption axis direction and the coefficient aT thereof, that is, a coefficient (a) in expression (I) of the relaxation elastic modulus in a transmission axis direction, satisfy an expression (II): 1.0≤aA/aT≤1.2.
