PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy for detecting a feature such as the face of an object in a digital camera. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with a feature detector for detecting the feature of an object, a memory for storing the feature information detected by the feature detector, and a photographing control unit for performing photographing control on the basis of the feature detected by the feature detector. If the feature detector cannot detect the feature when photographing a recording image, the photographing control unit performs photographing control on the basis of the feature information stored in the memory.
