PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a plasma display panel having high visual quality and a long service life by inhibiting the bad influence of an impurity gas existing in the discharge space of the plasma display panel. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel, a plurality of display electrodes 6 are formed of scanning electrodes 4 and sustaining electrodes 5; a front plate 1 which covers the display electrodes 6 and on which a dielectric layer 7 is formed, and a back plate 2 on which a plurality of data electrodes 10 are formed so as to be orthogonal to the display electrodes 6, are placed so as to form a discharge space inside; and discharge cells are formed at intersections of the display electrodes 6 and the data electrodes 10. Projections 17 are formed on the dielectric layer 7, where the projection 17 includes a material to absorb or to be combined with the impurity gas in the discharge space. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
