摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the storage capacity of an extremely small magnetic hard disk storage device containing a plurality of magnetic recording disk recording surfaces and a plurality of reading and writing transducers corresponding to the recording surface, respectively. SOLUTION: The recording zone boundary of the recording surfaces is set based on abilities of the reading and writing transducers combined with the plurality of magnetic recording disk recording surfacess, respectively. The track width and the recording ability of the transducer at a prescribed recording frequency when the transducers are used for writing are measured and the ability of the transducer is discriminated from the measured result. Settings of the boundaries of the recording zones on all recording surfaces are not performed simultaneously in advance based on the estimated characteristic value of a head, but individually performed based on the measured value of the recording ability of the transducer. Since the recording frequency and the track pitch of each storing zone are decided based on the track width characteristic of the ability-discriminated transducer, the storage capacity of a disk driving device is improved as a whole.
