PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate defects of an elevator installation including suspension sheaves on balance weight and elevator car and a plurality of flat belt type suspension means arranged in parallel. SOLUTION: The suspension means are arranged on parallel vertical plane 6.1 obliquely extending in relation to a main horizontal shaft of the balance weight 2 and/or the elevator car 1. Suspension sheave systems are mounted on the balance weight 2 and the elevator car 1. At least one of the suspension sheave systems has each one suspension sheave and is provided with a plurality of suspension sheave units 8.1 and 8.2 mutually adjacently arranged. In the suspension sheave units 8.1 and 8.2, rotary shafts of the suspension sheaves are essentially horizontal, and are fixed to the balance weight 2 and/or the elevator car 1 so that each of the rotary shafts may turn around one related vertical shaft.
