PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member which is used for a structural member and can realize the energy absorbing capacity furthermore larger than those of conventional shock absorbing members. SOLUTION: A sheetlike long member is formed by alternately arranging two or more kinds of sheetlike partial members for the shock absorbing member, and the sheetlike long member is used for all or a part of the layers of the surface member of the shock absorbing member. As a result, when a load due to an impact is applied on the shock absorbing member, the directions of the load and the strain are complicatedly dispersed by means of the two or more kinds of the sheetlike long members and the concentration of the load and the deformation can be avoided.
