PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensing method for the front-rear force acting on a pneumatic tire capable of sensing the front-rear force acting on the tire with only one piece of measuring data while the durable strength is maintained high, performing the computation for sensing easily and quickly, enhancing the measuring accuracy and reliance upon sensing, and conducting the control of a vehicle control system conveniently. SOLUTION: The sensing method is to sense the front-rear force Fx acting on the tire 1 using the strain output (t) of a strain sensor 10 to measure the tire surface strainε, in which the strain sensor 10 consists of a sensor element unit 20 structured so that a magnet 11 and a magnet sensor element 12 confronting it are consolidated with a resilient material 13 interposed is installed in a region Y of a side wall part 3. The strain output (t) is measured by a rotational position sensor 18 for tire in the measuring position PP at the angleθ180±20°in the coordinate system round the tire axis where the center of grounding is 0°and the counter-rotating direction of the tire is used as positive.
