PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil composition for a premix compression self-ignition engine which permits decrease in NOx, PM or the like contained in exhaust gases and reduction in fuel costs. SOLUTION: The fuel oil composition for the premix compression self-ignition engine contains at least 20 vol% of catalytic cracking gas oil (LCO) as a base material, exhibits distillation properties represented by equations (1) and (2) and has a cetane index, a density, a total aromatic content, a sulfur content and a nitrogen content, each within a specific range. Equation (1): T<SB>50</SB>+T<SB>70</SB>×2+T<SB>90</SB>×3≤2,000°C (wherein T<SB>50</SB>is a 50 vol% distillation temperature; T<SB>70</SB>is a 70 vol% distillation temperature; and T<SB>90</SB>is a 90 vol% distillation temperature).
