PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method of using a combustion exhaust gas capable of producing an article with high added value and usability by fixing CO<SB>2</SB>and CO contained in carbon-containing gases such as coal gasification gas and coal combustion exhaust gas and reducing their discharge into the environment. SOLUTION: A carbon oxide-containing gas is introduced into a converter 1 where CO<SB>2</SB>in the exhaust gas is converted into CO, and the resulting CO is sent into a reactor 8 where a monolayer carbon nanotube is produced by the vapor growth using the CO as a carbon source. The vapor growth is done under a normal pressure at 700-800°C using a carrier carrying a catalyst metal. As the catalyst metal, a main catalyst metal such as Co or this and a promotor metal such as Mo are used.
