The method involves evaluating a signal, and adapting a position dependent reference curve based on the signal for current adjustment position of e.g. seat. A disturbance signal is detected by evaluation of the reference curve by a neural network. An arithmetic and logic unit is provided, where the disturbance signal is a temporary break in supply voltage of a drive that cause reduction in rotating speed of the drive. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling an adjustment device of a motor vehicle.
