A transmission is arranged between the drive apparatus and the power take-off . The transmission is an automatic gearbox with different gear stages. The electric motor is arranged on the power take-off side of the gearbox. A sensor determines the gear shifting process, and generates a signal for triggering the electric motor to provide power assistance for the power-take-off. An independent claim is included for a method of operating a motor vehicle.
